MySQL AB has joined hands with Open source business intelligence (BI) vendor JasperSoft to launch Jasper for MySQL: OEM Edition 2.0 targeted at software ISVs and OEMs seeking an interactive reporting solution to embed in their MySQL-based products. Jasper for MySQL is aimed at enabling ISVs and OEMs to give their users a full range of business intelligence (BI) and professional reporting capabilities. This includes ad-hoc interactive reporting and production pixel-perfect reporting, as well as scheduling and distribution.

There are two versions -- one for end users and another for OEMs and ISVs. The OEM Edition 2.0 is available now from MySQL AB.

Jasper for MySQL 2.0 for end users sports the following features:

* Ad Hoc Crosstabs- users now have the ability to create, edit, and save crosstabs in the ad hoc editor
* New Ad Hoc Capabilities- users can change parameters in ad hoc and sort one or more columns, and ad hoc now works on top of custom query executors as well as JDBC
* Security Enhancements- administrators have the option to encrypt all user passwords; users can now change passwords; and folder options are filtered by permissions when a user saves a resource
* End-User Ease-of-Use- there is a revamped UI for setting resource permissions, improved default input controls, and users have the ability to test connections for data sources
* More Output and Saving Options- output to CSV is now built-in and end-users can save report options
* More Configurability- customers can now customize URL for JasperServer, add new exporters, setup different input control pages per report, and work with XML/A data sources out of the box
